Catching Up and Giving Back
Oct 1, 2014 News Archive
Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with a few of my former MASE students from Texas A&M – Galveston. I am happy to say that I’ve been positively impressed with the success this group of engineers has achieved since graduating 12-19 years ago. All MASE graduates I’ve met are making an impact in our industry, and I am also happy to say that many of them are giving back by becoming mentors to new students and new engineers.
During this past year I’ve also met and collaborated with a few of my graduate school classmates from the University of Houston who are in the offshore industry. I would like to invite this group to get together and create a scholarship to help our former professors at UH continue to bring talent to our industry.
If you can get a hold of your professors, send them a note thanking them for having prepared you for such an interesting career in the offshore field. On my part, Thank you, Dr. Wang, Dr. Han and Dr. Williams!
On the subject of talent, as a new, growing company we are committed to retaining the talented engineering team we are developing. As we strive to be the kind of company that exceeds both clients and employee expectations, I read with interest a Houston Chronicle article listing the best companies to work for. Among the small companies we’ve interacted with, 2HOFFSHORE came in at number 7, STRATEGY 49, and INTERMOOR 59.
